Flower Delivery to Pitchcott with Clare Florist
The village of Pitchcott is a civil parish located in Buckinghamshire County, which is in England. It lies within the Aylesbury Vale district of the county and is about three miles from the village of Waddesdon. Pitchcott is a small village that only takes up 925 acres of land. According to a 2001 census, there are approximately 44 people living in the village.
One of the most notable environmental features there is Pitchcott Hill, which is the highest point in the village and goes up to 510 feet above sea level. On the western boundary of the village lies Carter’s Lane. This was a Roman road that was once occupied by the ancient Romans thousands of years ago. Carter’s Lane forms the boundary with the village of Quainton. Pitchcott contains a series of abandoned medieval houses, which is why people call it a shrunken village. When you go to the village you will find medieval house platforms, medieval track traces and even a medieval windmill. These alone make Pitchcott a wonderful place to visit just to see these historical architectural features.
The name “Pitchcott” is an Old English word that means “cottage where pitch is stored.” Surprisingly, Pitchcott is not mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086. It isn’t mentioned in any of the 12th century records either. But what you will find in the village is the original Church of England parish church of Saint Giles that was built around the 12th century. Experts believe the chancel portion was built in the early 13th century. If you view the southern wall of the church you will find that it has its two original lancet windows still intact. However, the building itself is no longer a church because it was deconsecrated over the years and turned into a private house. But it still holds great historical significance.
If you plan on going to Pitchcott in the near future then you should think about taking your romantic partner along with you. Even though Pitchcott is a very small village, there is so much history there that you cannot pass it up. The only thing that would make the experience for you and your partner even more wonderful is if you were to order flowers for delivery to Pitchcott upon your arrival. With Clare Florist you can choose from flower arrangements that cater to birthdays, holidays, anniversaries and so on.
