Little Paxton, a village in Cambridgeshire, is in eastern England. It is near the towns of Huntingdon and St. Neots. The village is on the western side of the Great Ouse River valley.

While Little Paxton is not explicitly named in the Domesday Book of 1086, but the Great Paxton (the next village over) is mentioned, though as its previous name of Pachstone. The village is mentioned in a historical document in 1544 for the fisheries on the River Ouse at Little Paxton.

The parish church is dedicated to St. James and is a protected historic structure. The stone church was built in the late 12^th century, with significant renovations in the 15^th and 16^th centuries. The parish restored the original parish tower bells in 2011, which had previously not run since 1899.

Little Paxton is known for its gravel quarries, an industry that was once thriving in the village since the 19^th century. Much of the gravel from Little Paxton’s quarries was used in local housing.  By the later part of the 20^th century, many of the quarries were closed and the Paxton Pits Nature Reserve opened in 1989. Gravel extraction still occurs in the region.

Paxton Pits Nature Reserve is centred on the nearby gravel pits of the area and is more than 700 acres. The nature preserve offers ample opportunities to enjoy woodlands, lakes, and part of River Ouse floodplain. It is home to a wide variety of birds and other wildlife. It is a Site of Specific Scientific Interest by the Nature Conservancy Council.

In addition to Paxton Pits, there are other abandoned quarry areas that are now lakes, with the largest being Henonry South Lake and Sailing Lake. Other lakes include Weedy Lake, Rudd Lake, Cloudy Lake, and Hayling Lake. Fishing is permitted in some of the lakes, as well as on the River Ouse.
