HISTORY

The name Davenham means “hamlet on the River Dane.” It is listed in the Domesday Book as Devenham.

The whole of Eaton – located near Davenham – as well as part of Leftwich civil parish – which extended into Davenham village – were added in 1936. Part of Davenham was then added to the civil parish of Northwich in 1955.

A large housing development was built in farmland located to the north-west of the village centre between 1996 and 2006. The name of the estate is Kingsmead and it is separated from Davenham by the A556.
