Flower Delivery to Preston on the Hill with Clare Florist
Located in the county of Cheshire, Preston on the Hill is a small but beautiful rural village located between the villages of Daresbury, Dutton and Preston Brook. The name Preston literally means a priest’s home or a Priest’s farm. So it basically refers to a priest. It is administered as part of Civil Parish under the Unitary Government of Halton. The famous sites of this village include hamlets of windmill lane, waterfront, Cotton Bridge and several farms like White House, Little Manor and New Manor etc. Though it is a rural village but it has been developed in terms of infrastructure having a motorway, ample amount of residential areas and main as well as minor roads. The village has however retained its scenic beauty because of the farms located in it.
Although the village is located at a conspicuous location on the top of a hill still its primitive history is unknown. The village of Preston was first mentioned in the Chartulary of the Abbey of St. Werburgh, Chester between middle and end of the twelfth century. This village was bought during the regime of King John by Hugh Dutton from Dutton from Henry de Neurs and his wife. However in the early 17th century the manor was passed on to the Earl of Macclesfield, who told the trustees to sell out the Manor for payment of debts and the village came under the ownership of Fleetwood Family. This family conveyed it to Grevilles who again sold it to Thomas Brock of Chester who passed it on to Thomas Yates. After being passed on to few more people finally in 1941 the village was sold by Dansburry to his tenants later, it came under the Civil Parish of Preston Brooke.
Most of the people in Preston on the Hill follow the religion of All Saints Daresbury. History bears proof that religious houses were constructed in the area but in the recent times, all the well-known churches have been converted to buildings for miscellaneous uses, for example, housing for developmental purposes.
The small rural village has important landmarks like the hamlets of windmill lane which is a residential area having good accommodation facilities. The most remarkable development in the history of Preston on the hill is the construction of Bridgewater canal. In addition to these, it also has the cotton bridge as well as beautiful, vast and productive farms which add not only to the scenic natural beauty of the village but also are a source of income for the village. The village also has a school for children, which shows the importance of education.
