History

Colwyn Bay was established as its own separate parish in 1844. At that time, it had a few small grouping of homes and farms, which is where the community of Old Colwyn stands today. Since that time, Colwyn Bay has expanded to become the second largest community and business centre in the north of Wales.

Rhos-on-Sea, which is the western side of Colwyn Bay, has several historic sites that are associated with St Trillo and Ednyfed Fychan, who was the 13th century general and councillor to Llywelyn the Great.

Eirias Park – a 50-acre public park that features a six-lane 25 metre swimming pool, many water features, fitness suite, health suite, sauna, steam room and warm spa pool. Outdoor facilities include a sports stadium, tennis courts, bowling greens, boating lake, children's area and picnic area.

Queens Gardens – features formal ornamental beds as well as mature trees and shrubs. There are lots of Colwyn Bay flowers to look at in this park and it was even a trial area for the National Rose Society in the 80s and 90s.

Llety'r Dryw – a Grade II listed house located on Abergele Road. This was built for the uncle of Anthony Eden. Now, it is used as a training centre for the North Wales Police.

Llys Euryn – a medieval manor house (now in ruins) located on Bryn Euryn.
