Flower Delivery to Bodmin by Clare Florist
Bodmin is located right at the heart of Cornwall and situated on the western fringes of the Bodmin Moor, which has an equally breathtaking landscape to behold. The town isn't meant to be driven around in the car. In fact, you can best enjoy the place by taking a walk as several of its attractions are within close distance to each other.
The name Bodmin is interpreted as “dwelling of or by the sanctuary of monks” and comes from the Cornish word, “Bod-meneghy.” The town is steeped in rich history, and is sure to be a delight to those who have an interest in the old times. Simply visiting its attractions gives insight into the town's past. As an example, the Shire Hall where the Visitor Information Centre is based was once the former county assize courts.
Tradition says that St. Petroc travelled from Padstow to Bodmin in the early 6th century. Here, he took over an existing monastic settlement that was established by Uuren – a hermit who was also known as St. Guron – earlier. By 1086, Bodmin became an important religious centre in Cornwall, and the shrine that housed the relics of St. Petroc became a focal point for Pilgrims. You can experience the vast history of Bodmin itself by going on a town trail. You can use any of those put out by the Visitor Information Centre.
The Attractions of Bodmin
Bodmin Gaol – Although this was operational for about 150 years, it's now in a semi-ruin. It was built in the 18th century, and was one of the prisons in Britain that held prisoners in separate cells rather than in a commune.
Regimental Barracks of the Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry – This is now a regimental museum that includes the history of the regiment from 1702, as well as a military library. The museum also features a collection of small arms, machine guns, plus maps, uniforms, and paintings on display.
Bodmin Town Museum – Here you'll find a nice collection of exhibits from the history of Bodmin that includes a Victorian kitchen, a section on wildlife, and a real cell door from the Bodmin Jail.

CGS Spring Flower Show – If you want to witness an event filled with wonderful displays of Bodmin flowers, this affair is for you. It is held at the Boconnoc estate, which is near Lostwithiel. Apart from the display, there will also be children's classes and show gardens.
Rock Oyster Festival – This is promoted as a midsummer celebration involving food, music, and art. It tells place in the 17th century Dinhan House, which overlooks the Camel Estuary near Wadebridge.
