Torpoint is situated at the mouth of the River Tamar on the south coast of Cornwall. Penntorr, as it's known in the Cornish language, lies opposite the Devonshire city of Plymouth on the Rame peninsula. A ferry links the two counties and as a result, Torpoint is often known as the 'gateway to Cornwall.'

Only a town since the 19th century, Torpoint's idyllic riverside setting makes it a sailing and windsurfing hotspot in the summer. St John's Lake is home to more feathered visitors in the wintertime, with migrating terns and waders stopping here on their way south. Visitors can walk to Kingsand and Cawsand, where the rural Cornish surroundings are showcased at their best along the varied coastal footpaths.

Torpoint may be a small seaside town, but it's located near several significant historical estates. Sculpture gardens, blooming flower beds and a dovecote are just a few of the attractions at the Georgian mansion of Anthony House, which was used as a location for the recent Alice in Wonderland film. The National Trust's collection of daylillies are also uniquely found here.

While nearby Mount Edgcumbe Park forms the ground for a magnificent Tudor house, complete with formal gardens and the more natural valley and pond setting, home to many species of birds and flowering plants like camellias. With such rich natural resources, flower delivery in Torpoint and Cornwall is an inspiring industry.

Further afield, you'll find Port Eliot House and Garden, with its orangery and Grade 1-listed park, while families flock to the Tamar Valley Donkey Park on the Devonshire border, where there are plenty of other farmyard attractions in addition to the thirty-strong donkey herd.

That's not to mention the broad, sweeping shores of Whitsand Bay to the south-west, or the picturesque churches and streets of Anthony village, along the Lynher River. Torpoint really is ideally placed to reach the best that the West Country has to offer.
