He was a professional cricketer who died in the village in 1942.

There are two parts to the village; Meynell Langley and Kirk Langley. Meynell Langley is where the village’s parish church is located. This church is the Church of St. Michael and it was constructed in the early part of the 14th century. The property it was built on previously had another church from the 5th century built there but it got destroyed over the prior centuries. However, there are still some remains of a Saxon wall from that original church on the current property. The current church also has a perpendicular tower, heraldic tiles, heraldic glass, and timber screens that are some of the oldest in the entire county.

The Meynell Langley section of the village was named after the Meynell family which owned land there since King Henry I was in power. There is even a monument dedicated to Lieutenant William Meynell which serves as a memorial to his death in 1854 on the Danube River after joining the Turks to fight the Russians in the city of Giurgiu. Another notable building in the village is the Leeke Memorial Hall. Up until 1879, this building used to be a village school. But then it got turned into the centre of the village where many community activities take place. The main school of the village now is the Church of England Primary School.
