Flower Delivery to Butterleigh with Clare Florist
Butterleigh is a small village in Devon county in the south west region of England. It’s located three miles from Tiverton, where more amenities are located. Butterleigh has its own public house, village hall for council and local events, a blacksmith, and a harvest home festival each year. Each year open air music festivals are held in the region. Like most villages in England, it has an old church full of historical history.
St. Matthew’s Church dates back to at least the 13th century, with its inclusion of a 13th century baptismal font. An alms box from the time of King Charles I, 17th century, is still in use today. Other notable relics from the 17th century include a mural monument dedicated to Elizabeth Courtenay, deceased 1624. She was the daughter of Phillip III Courtenay, who lived in the town of Molland, also in Devon, from 1547 to 1611. Elizabeth was married to a doctor of medicine Peter Muden, and they lived in Butterleigh. Peter Muden was responsible for enlarging the church. Her mural monument depicts a female effigy with two children, and verse underneath.
There are many historical buildings in town. The Butterleigh Mill is across the bridge of Burn River. There are many derelict sheds and farm buildings.
The hiker or the outdoor enthusiast will find many walking trails around the region. There are farms and expansive valleys of green tree-filled fields and small streams. Force Cross offers a pleasant small tree-lined road to stroll through.
The Harvest Home Festival was held last year in Butterleigh. This was an open air venue that attracted many travellers to the region. Check back to see when they’ll be holding their event this year.
Tiverton is only a short walk away, and this year they are holding the Tiverton Balloon and Music Festival in July, over a three day long weekend. Travellers may bring their camping gear and camp onsite. Facilities and amenities will be brought in. There will be two live music stages where several concerts will be performed by English bands.
One of the highlights of the festival are the hot air balloons that can be seen from all over the region. Over 25 hot air balloons from various organizations and sponsors will be attendance. Exciting light and fire shows in the evening light up the balloons. The best part of the festival is that balloon flights are offered to the attendees. Besides the music and balloons there are many other events to entertain attendees. The Devon Food Festival offers a variety of food vendors, and arts and crafts tables to give shoppers a chance to browse the wares.
