Hooke is a tiny village located in the county of Dorset in the south part of England. This village is also a civil parish and is it situated very close (about 7 miles) north of the town of Bridpot. Hooke is divided in two parts – the north part which is situated around a large pond and the south part situated on a more flat terrain. It is unknown when this area was settled for the first time, but what is known is that Hooke was mentioned in many medieval written documents from the 14th and 15th century. Of course, back in those days, Hooke was just a regular Dorset village with one church and people who were mostly engaged in agriculture.
According to the census that took place in 2011, Hooke has a population of only 157. The hills around the village have attracted some telecommunication companies and few years ago one company built a transmitter station on one of the hills.
