Partington has a long an illustrious history. It is one of England’s most beautiful small towns, with a population of just over seven thousand. In its early days, this town was the home of the very first factory to ever be built in Trafford, when a paper mill was built. At the end of the 19th century, this town was home to one of the largest coal exportation industries, and the transportation associated with this business brought a range of different companies to Partington.

After World War II, many of the people who were living in Manchester were relocated to Partington, to help relieve the pressure that a large refugee population was putting on the big city. For most of its modern history, Partington was involved in coal and making steel. The first mention of this area, however, is as a village divided into farmlands. It is actually from the division of the land here that Partington gets its name. At the time of the first recorded hearth tax in 1664, this town had a population of ninety-nine.

In the years that followed, the canal alongside Partington was expanded, making it an ideal place to export coal, and industries that required a large amount of coal would build their businesses in this relatively small town. Today, the railway station associated with exporting coal is closed and is entirely overgrown with plant life again.
