Flower Delivery to Dunsop Bridge with Clare Florist
The village of Dunsop Bridge is located in Lancashire, England. It is just nine miles away from the town of Clitheroe and 15 miles from Lancaster. Dunsop Bridge lies within the Bowland Forest High civil parish. It used to be under the authority of the West Riding of Yorkshire, but in 1974 it became under the Lancashire County Council administration. The village is best known for being the geographic central point of Britain, even though the exact central point is near Brennand Farm at the Whitendale Hanging Stones. Back in 1992, the 100,000th payphone was installed in the village by British Telecommunications. The payphone includes a plaque next to it which states how significant this is to the community.
In the 11th century, Dunsop Bridge was connected to the Lordship of Bowland. This was made up of a Royal Forest and ten manors which covered over 300 square miles along the borders of Yorkshire and Lancashire. It wasn’t until the 19th century that Dunsop Bridge was actually made into a village. The only reason this happened was because of the increasing amount of lead mining there. Before Dunsop Bridge was a village, there were very few farms and houses on the land. The manor home close to the village centre was the Thorneyholme House, which was where the 13th Lord of Bowland named John Towneley lived until he died in 1878. Before him, a breeder of shorthorn cattle and racehorses named Richard Eastwood lived there.
Saint Hubert’s Roman Catholic Church opened in Dunsop Bridge in May of 1865. A famous architect named Edward Pugin started building the church sometime around 1862. Rumour has it that he got the money to build the church with the winnings he received from betting on a horse race. If you ever get a chance to come to Dunsop Bridge then you definitely need to stop by the church because it is a beautiful piece of architecture. If you are with your romantic partner then you should order flowers for delivery to Dunsop Bridge upon your arrival there.
