Flower Delivery to Pentrebach with Clare Florist

The village of Pentrebach is located in the county borough of Merthyr Tydfil, which is in the country of Wales. Pentrebach rests across from Abercanaid on the River Taff’s eastern side. The village of Troedyrhiw is to the south of Pentrebach and Merthyr is to the north. A 445-metre hill called the Myndd Cilfach-yr-Encil is just east of Pentrebach. If you are able to make it to the top of this hill then you can see the beautiful landscape of the grasslands and hills that surround the area.

Pentrebach was founded in 1763 which happened to be around the same time that Plymouth Ironworks was built by John Guest. He would become part of the GKN company that was named after its founders; John Guest, Arthur Keen, and Joseph Nettlefold. The business was eventually taken over by Anthony Hill in 1818. He built a house in Merthyr Tydfil which later became a senior citizen home. Nowadays, the house is used for the Brewers Fayre Restaurant and the Premier Inn.

In 1802, the Merthyr Tramroad was constructed between the communities of Abercynon and Pennydarren. This tramroad was used from transporting iron goods made from the Penydarren Ironworks facility of Abercynon. There is a tunnel in Pentrebach in which the tramroad goes through. You can find this tunnel on the modern day Merthyr Road if you ever visit the village. In 1886, the first railway station opened in Pentrebach for transporting iron ore as well. This made the tramroad obsolete and pretty much abandoned entirely.

By the end of World War II, most of the old factories were closed. Fortunately, new industries went to Pentrebach which manufactured everything from underwear to washing machines. This created much more jobs for people who didn’t want to move. In recent years, hang gliding has become a popular activity to do in the village because of all the mountains and hills around.

If you ever come to Pentrebach with your romantic partner then you will find plenty of beautiful and historical sites to see.
