It’s managed by English Nature and is designated as a “Site of Special Scientific Interest”. This region contains a variety of natural habitats, including mire (marshland), heathland, and woodland. This land sits on the Dersingham Formation, which is composed of greensand, a type of sandstone from the lower Cretaceous Period. The mire is waterlogged for a greater part of the year. A variety of birds make this area their home, including crossbills, redpolls, tree pipits, nightjars, and long-eared owls. A small fenced gate offers entrance to the Nature Reserve.
