According to the census of 201, Little Ellingham has a population of 271.
Little Ellingham and the area around it was settled even in pre-Roman times. This was home to the Brythonic tribe called Iceni. This place was also vulnerable to Viking attacks, so it is no wonder why theer are traces of old forts in the area. Little Ellingham was mentioned in the Domesday Book as a small village with 34 goats and 12 cattle. It was managed by William de Warenne on behalf of the King. It is interesting to mentions that this village was known under few other names during medieval times – Elincgham, Ailincham and of course – Ellingham. The village suffered many losses during a plague epidemic in the 16th century.
During the World War 2, Little Ellingham was used by the US Air Force that built an airfield near this village. This was probably the time when this village experienced the first major changes. It soon turned from strictly agricultural to a dormitory-type of village. The farms that were once the main places to look for a job are now fully mechanized and people work in different industries now and many of them travel to nearby towns and cities.
