Ullapool is a small town with a big presence in the Scottish Highlands, with a well-deserved reputation for its arts and music. The town was originally made to be a herring port and was designed by Thomas Telford in the late 18th century. The original harbour is still used today, by yachts, fishing boats and for boat trips.

It also has regular links to the isle of Lewis, famous for its crofts and the Callanish standing stones among many other attractions. You may have also heard of the Lewis Chess Men, Viking game pieces discovered on the island.
