Flower Delivery to Myddle with Clare Florist

Myddle is a small village that belongs to the parish of Myddle and Broughton in the county of Shropshire, located 10 miles away from the county town of Shrewsbury. The village is well-known as the subject of “Antiquities and Memoirs of the Parish of Myddle”, a book that was written by Richard Gough and is considered the greatest insight into the “middle sort of people”. Today, Myddle is an excellent place to visit for people who want to seek refuge from the hustle and bustle of highly urbanised areas and relax in a calm and peaceful place.

The History of Myddle

There has been several variations in the spelling of the town's name and, over the years, it has been called Mydle, Middle, Midle, M'dle, Meadley and Medle until the current name Myddle was finalised. It was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086 as part of the Baschurch hundred, with just 11 households that consisted of eight smallholders, two Frenchmen, and a priest. It had a taxable value of 8 geld units at the time and was under the rule of Reginald the sheriff, who was both the lord and the tenant-in-chief in 1086.

In 1165, John Le Strange acquired the manor of Myddle from the Fitz Alan family. Less than two centuries later, the Le Strange family transformed their home into castle to protect themselves from the Welsh. The 400-year lordship of the Le Stranges ended in the late 1500s because there was no male heir, and the ownership of the manor was passed on to Sir George Stanley through marriage.

Over the years, the ownership of the manor was passed on to the Egerton family (who bought the lands in Myddle), and it was inherited by the Brownlow family. The manor was eventually broken and sold in 1924 to pay the death duties of the Adelbert Brownlow.

Myddle in the Modern Times
As mentioned above, Myddle is a great place to visit if you're looking for a peaceful place where you can relax for a few days. The best part about spending your holiday in this village is that you can easily switch between visiting the local attractions and sitting back and doing nothing.

If you want to commune with nature, just explore the village and its surrounding fields, woodlands, and wetlands. Here, you can see a wide range of Myddle flowers including buttercups, violets, poppies, primroses, daisies, bluebells, and honeysuckles. You can also join the local walking group and stroll through the various trails in the area.

If you love cycling, just hop on your bicycle and take the popular cycling route, which covers seven miles and takes you to the Red Lion Bar and Grill and other interesting places. Don't forget to visit the Myddle Castle, which is now a Grade II Listed Building. It might no longer be complete — in fact, only sections of the castle still remain — but it's worth a visit because of its rich history.

While you're holidaying in the village with your family, you can also send flowers to Myddle to surprise your mum, girlfriend, wife, or other loved ones.
