Bawdsey is most notable for the radar research that took place in the early part of the First World War. However, research moved to Worth Matravers in May 1940 near Swanage then to Malvern, Worcestershire in 1942. Orford Castle – one of the most complete keeps in England. It is remarkably intact allowing visitors to explore the basement through the lower and upper halls to the roof which offers great views seaward to Orford Ness.
