Flower Delivery to Barcheston with Clare Florist
Barcheston is a small village in the county of Warwickshire in central England. This civil parish is situated on the east bank of the River Stour. The left bank is where the town of Shipston-on-Stour is located. Barcheston has a population of about 130 according to the last census.
Because of its location and the access to a very fertile ground, this area was inhabited by people since the Iron Age. However, the first documented record of Barcheston occurs in the Domesday Book from 1086. This was a Saxon parish that had two separate settlements. The owners of this area were changing in the medieval times and nothing significant was witnessed in this village, except the construction of the first tapestry factory in England in the 16th century.
On the other hand, the 19th century brought many changes. For instance, the infrastructure was improved and several roads were built. Some of the existing public buildings were renovated. Because of these changes, the population has grown, but only a little bit. In the beginning of the 20th century, the villagers have erected a lynch gate in honour of King Edward VII. There is also a memorial for those who have lost their lives in the World War I. Although only 5 people from Barcheston lost their lives, this was a significant number for a village with a population of 118.
