Flower Delivery to Beoley with Clare Florist
Beoley is located just north of Redditch – locally known as the Ditch and home to Kingfisher Shopping Centre – and adjoins Warwickshire to the east. It's part of the county of Worcestershire. It's also a civil parish which adjoins the suburb of Church Hill and is also adjacent to the following civil parishes: Alvechurch, Mappleborough Green, Tanworth-in-Arden and Wythall.
According to A History of the County of Worcester: Volume 4, Beoley is on the border of Warwickshire which bounds the village on the south and east. The village covers 4,694 acres of land and it is situated about 400 ft high with the north and south rising more than 500 ft.
Beoley was part of the estates of the Benedictine Pershore Abbey from the 10th century until AD 972. The mesne lords of the manor from the 12th century to about 1265 were the de Beauchamp family of Elmley Castle, the ancestors of William de Beauchamp, 9th Earl of Warwick, who acquired overlordship from the abbey. The manor was in the de Beauchamp's ownership until the death of Henry de Beauchamp, 1st Duke of Warwick in 1446. The manor passed to his daughter, Elizabeth, who married George Nevill, 1st Baron Latimer. The Latimers retained ownership until John Nevill, 4th Baron Latimer sold it in 1549.
William Sheldon bought the manor and his son, Ralph, succeeded him. He was a Royalist and as such, Parliamentarian authorities sequestered Beoley. After the Restoration of the Monarchy in 1660, Beoley was restored via Richard Sheldon to Ralph.
Boeley manor was heavily mortgaged in 1788 and the owner sold it to Thomas Holmes who then separated the Beoley Hall and about 300 acres of land from the rest of the manor.
