Flower Delivery to St Enoder with Clare Florist
St Enoder is a civil parish and hamlet in Cornwall. The name of the parish and hamlet comes from an unknown saint. During medieval times, there was a chapel of St. Mary, but it was destroyed in 1414. The current parish church was built in the 15th century. The tower of the church collapsed in 1684 and was rebuilt in 1711.
Joseph Treffry built a railway through St Enoder in 1849 and the Cornwall Minerals Railway opened its line in 1874. At first the railway was only used for transporting goods, but passenger service began in 1876.
Mining and agriculture were large trades in St Enoder and some remains from these trades remain. People can see the remains of the stacks of Parka tin mine, the Toldish paint mine, the engine house of Toldish tin mine and the spoil heaps of the Penhale Moor tin mine.
The Indian Queens Pit is a non-conformist preaching pit that was constructed in a disused open mine. The Indian Queens Pit had been used since the 1860s for anniversaries and other community events until the summer of 1970. The pit was unused for six years until it was decided that it needed to be used again. The Indian Queens Pit reopened in 1978 and there are many events in the pit every year.
The Parka to Penhale Walk is located in St. Enoder and it is a 2.5 mile walk that most people should be able to do easily. This walk is the easiest way to see many of the remains of the 19th century mines, medieval farms and many other historic buildings.
