In the 11the century, the Latin word “magna” (which means “great”) was added to Kington to distinguish it from another smaller settlement (Little Magna) nearby.

The village of Kington Magna has a beautiful church - The Church of All Saints- which was built in the Early English style. Sections of the church, however are Norman as the church underwent renovation in the 1860s.
