Welshbury Hill – an Iron Age hill fort that lies west of Flaxley in Welshbury Woods. It is believed that this is the site where the Dobunni, a Celtic tribe, fought their last battle against the Romans. A couple of interesting archaeological items have been unearthed here, including a Celtic electrum coin.
Welshbury Court Garden – a Dutch-style water garden where you can find canals, clipped hedges, 17th-century vegetable plots and several varieties of fruit trees.
Dean Heritage Centre – documents the social and industrial history of the area and of its residents. The centre is comprised of a museum, a millpond and waterwheel, a forester's cottage complete with garden and animals, exhibitions on art and crafts and trails on the surrounding woodland. Also available at the centre are picnic tables, barbecue hearths and an adventure playground. A gift shop selling local produce is also on site, as well as a restaurant serving home-cooked food.
