The village of Church Crookham is situated on the southern outskirts of the town of Fleet in North Eastern Hampshire. The original village of Crookham is mentioned in the Domesday Book, but the separate area of Church Crookham only became a distinct entity in its own right after the building of the church in 1840.

The Queen Elizabeth Barracks in the village were an important part of the village community, built in 1938 as the Boyce Barracks but renamed in honour of a visit made by the Queen Mother in 1948. With facilities designed to accommodate up to 2500 soldiers, the barracks have been a depot for the Royal Army Medical Corps, the Royal Corps of Transport and more latterly as a base for the Gurkha Regiments until the land was sold for development in 2000.
The village is the former location of the only tobacco plantation in Britain which managed to be a commercial success although it ceased production in 1938.
