Flower Delivery to Isle of Barra with Clare FLorist

Barra is a small island that can be found in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland. It’s one of the most southernmost inhabited islands in the region after Vatersay. In fact, it’s actually connected with that one via a causeway.

The population of Barra is around 1174 persons and it has grown a little bit when compared to the previous census. One interesting thing to note is that around 62% of the Barra population speaks Gaelic.

Barra’s area is around 60 square km and it has a main village named Castlebay. What you will like about it is the fact that there are many sandy beaches as well as manchair and numerous rocky inlents.

One of the standout places that you can visit here comes in the form of the Kisimul castle that is visually impressive. It’s located on a rock in the bay, which did lead to the name of the village in the first place. One thing to keep in mind here is that you have a very high elevation in here named Heaval which does have a marble statue named Our Lady of the Sea. The interesting thing here is that once you visit the statue you will be amazed with its looks and the great detail that was placed into it.

Most of the Barra residents are Catholic, which is understandable considering that most of the region has this religion and only a few villages are focused on other religions.

There are many other places of interest in the region with the ruined church found on the island the Cille Bhara meseum being some of the standout landmarks. There are some Iron Age brochs found in the region as well. In addition, here you can also find a few other structures that seem to be pertaining to the Iron Age era.
In Barra you can find an annual half marathon. Here you can also find an annual hill race that is very appealing for running enthusiast. The region is also known for many other sports, with power kiting and sea kayaking being a very good example in this regard.
Transportation in Barra is very good, you can reach the island without a problem and you also have multiple ferries that connect you to the region.
