Shepherdswell is also known as Sibertswold and is a village in Kent.  This village was widely known for years when the East Kent Railway ran through the area.  The original line was one of the Colonel Stephens’s lines and the line that now goes as far as Eythorne is run by a preservation society.

The Miner’s Way Trail goes through the village and people can link up with the coalfield parishes of East Kent or North Downs Way.  This trail is a circular footpath that connects many places together.  The trail is approximately twenty-seven miles in length, yet people can walk one of the two shorter trails that were created from the main route.  Each shorter trail is approximately fourteen miles in length.  

Not far from Shepherdswell is the Waldershare Park.  Inside the park, there are traces of an early 18th century garden that surround an old country house.  The Waldershare estate was purchased by Sir Henry Furness in 1705, the red brick house was built by 1712, and the gardens were laid out shortly after that.  The land is currently privately owned and no one is allowed to walk the grounds at this time.  

The Belmont House and Gardens are also located in Kent and families will enjoy wandering through the gardens before they go inside the house for a tour.  This area is a great location for a picnic lunch and people will find that they can spend an entire day inside the gardens.
