Flower Delivery to Orby with Clare Florist

Orby is a civil parish and village in Lincolnshire’s East Lindsey district in England. It is located approximately 9 miles east from Spilsby and 5 miles from Skegness, a popular seaside resort. The village covers the hamlet of Habertoft to the north-west and lies within the coast marshes of the county.

Today, the village is known for having great attractions and activities, so it is great to include in your destination bucket list. You can visit it with your family, a group or with your partner. If it is a romantic getaway that you are planning, then make sure to make it more special by ordering flowers in Orby, and this will add an element of surprise making your partner happier.

History

Orby is listed in the 1086 Domesday Book as “Heresbi”, and it was recorded as “Orreby” in 1115. However, this odd citation was not related to any described settlement within the village or parish itself, but rather a reference point to aid in locating lands that were held by the Bishop of Durham in Addlethorpe. As for the parish church, it is dedicated to All Saints and is a Grade II listed building that dates from the 13th century, which saw additions and alterations later on, such as the reconstruction of the chancel in 1888. As for the Manor House Farm, it is a Grade II listed farmhouse that dates back to 1660. It replaced an earlier medieval manor, and now the site is considered as an ancient scheduled monument.

Landmarks/Attractions

Orby is home and access to tourist attractions and historical sites that you will definitely enjoy exploring, especially the following:

·    Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre

This place will give you a real sense of history of Orby, as it is the only Airfield Museum in the UK that was recreated to its original design from an original World War II airfield. The atmosphere here will let you feel like what it was during the war. There is a rare Avro Lancaster Bomber NX611 that regularly performs engine runs.

·    Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Centre

This tourist spot offers you a great opportunity to know about the Battle of Britain and to see a lot of historic aerocraft up close, including 2 hurricanes, 2 chipmunks and 6 spitfires. Aside from this, you will also have the opportunity to see one of the only 2 Lancasters that are remaining in good condition, not to mention a Douglas Dakota ZA947.

·    Sandringham House

A Royal Family’s country retreat, this is perhaps the most famous and most beautiful stately home in Norfolk. It is set in 60 acres of gardens that have a stunning museum of royal mementoes and vehicles, with charming collections of jade, porcelain, family portraits and furniture. In its surrounding areas, you will find lush greens full of Orby flowers, fresh sceneries and other works of nature that make your visit more relaxing.
