St. Mary’s Church

This Anglican Church was designed by John Cunningham and built in stone. Located on the north wall of the structure is a complex of halls and vestries while the slate roofs are Welsh. The church has a polygonal apse, a nave devoid of aisles, an organ loft on the south side and tower on the southwest.
This interesting tower has two stages, along with a corbel table with beasts’ head, parapet and pinnacles at the corner.

Upton Hall

Built with stucco bricks, this structure was originally built as a house but was later made a part of a school. The architecture of this building is interesting, with a portico porch designed with two pairs of Tuscan columns. The frontage is three-bay and has two floors. A parapet can also be found on top of the hall while the windows are sashes. The doorway also has a window above it with a moulded architrave with entablature.

Manor House

Built in 1853 for William Inman, this stone house has Welsh slate roof and has two floors. Before 1875, another block with attics has been built. The front has three bays, with a two-storey bay window and a central doorway with Doric columns. There is also a belvedere tower with a pyramidal roof.

Despite the urbanisation of Upton, there is still a semi-natural woodland which is accessible to the public and also has a community forest as well as county wildlife site.
