Cwmbran is a relatively new town in Wales and forms part of the county borough of Torfaen. Established in 1949 to provide new employment opportunities, Cwmbran means Crow Valley and is the sixth largest urban area in Wales.

Cwmbran now has a population of 47,254 and is a well-established town that hosts everything from a large shopping mall to several martial arts clubs. All amenities are available to residents and visitors and you can even have flowers delivered to Cwmbran for any occasion. The town has boomed since its inception and Burtons Foods who makes Jammy Dodgers and Wagon Wheel biscuits is the biggest employer.

The town has its own comprehensive bus service and is served by trains on the Welsh Marches Line, with through trains going south to Cardiff and Newport. The station only opened in 1986 and like much of the town it is relatively new. One of the most impressive modern features of the town is the Cwmbran Shopping Centre which is home to a main bus station, small commercial units, supermarkets and a cinema. Over the last 30 years the shopping centre has been extended and added to, with another re development in 2006 named Llewellyn Walk. The new extension is home to more shops, a 20 lane bowling alley, restaurants and a crrche. In 2011 the first nightclub since The Pleasure Dome closed its doors in 2004 was opened, only a few feet away from the original building.

One of the main attractions of the town is the sports stadium that has been home to international athletics events since the 1970's. Cwmbran boasts a selection of top sports achievers with everyone from Commonwealth medallists to professional footballers emerging from the vicinity. All at some stage have lived in the area and have been showered with flowers delivered to Cwmbran for their fine achievements.
