Bernadette Rocher, a pioneering lady architect, redeveloped the village of Pandy in the Victorian era. In the 1870s, she helped extend and rework a lot of the old properties in town into local red sandstone. Her remains lie at the parish church at Oldcastle, Monmouthshire, which is just a short distance to the north-west.
