Belsay is a village in Northumberland.  The church in the village is dedicated to Saint Andrew.  To the Northwest of Belsay, there is the Aruna Ratanagiri Buddhist Monastery. 

Belsay Castle is a 14th century medieval castle and the main structure was built around 1370.  The main structure consists of a three story rectangular pele tower with round turrets and battlements.  A new manor house was attached in 1614 and the west wing was added in 1711.  In 1872, the house was altered quite a bit and the west wing was mostly demolished.  The castle was given to Scottish nobleman and Doctor John de Strivelyn in 1340 by Edward III.  When he died, the estate was passed to his daughter who married Sir John Middleton.  The manor was in the Middleton family ever since. The castle has not been used as a residence since the early 19th century and is currently owned by English Heritage and is open to the public. 

The grounds outside Belsay Castle are immense and beautiful.  Guests are encouraged to walk through restored heritage gardens in order to see formal terraces and flower beds filled with different arrays of flowers and shrubs.  One of the unique parts of Belsay is the Quarry Garden, which consists of ravines and pinnacles filled with ferns and many exotic plants.

Belsay Hall was built between 1810 and 1817 for Sir Charles Monck.  Sir Charles Monck moved his family into this new home on Christmas Day in 1817.  Belsay Hall is two stories and measures 100 feet square.  There is a lower kitchen attached to the north side of the building.  The Middleton family resided at Belsay Hall until 1962. Belsay Hall was then passed onto the state in 1980 and people can now visit to see all of the craftsmanship that went into the construction process.
