Henley-On-Thames is a beautiful market town set on the banks of the River Thames midway between Reading and Maidenhead. It is most famous for being the home of rowing, hosting the renowned Henley Royal Regatta and the iconic Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race amongst many others.

There has been a settlement at Henley since at least the 12th Century thanks to its setting by the river which made it a convenient stopping place for goods travelling to and from London. The town is noted for its affluence with a number of large and expensive homes bordering the river and an interesting architectural medley in the town itself.

The town is the home of at least six rowing clubs and boasts a museum dedicated to the sport. Henley is also reputed to be the home of England's oldest football club, as well as having a rugby club making it a centre for sporting activities of all kinds.

A popular visitor attraction is the Nuffield House which offers a fascinating insight into life in the 1930s. This former home of William Morris, the philanthropist who developed the Morris car, is exactly as it would have been when he lived there.

The Chiltern Winery and Brewery offers tours and tastings at the onsite vineyard and brewery, as does the nearby Lovibonds Brewery which offers visitors the use of its own delightful garden in which to sample the home-brewed ales.

For the townspeople of Henley-On-Thames flowers pay a large part in the day-to-day scenery as the town is an active participant in floral competitions. In fact the town was voted Gold Award winner in the recent Thames and Chilterns in Bloom Competition.

Henley is a tourist's delight, offering picturesque walks within the town and beside the river through a number of parks and green spaces.
