Standlake is both a village and civil parish located in the West Oxfordshire. It lies about five miles south-east of Witney and around seven mile west of Oxford. Axes dating back to the Paleolithic times were found west of the village and north-east of Brighthampton. Cheswell Cottage – formerly called Bodens, this timber-framed cottage was built around 1550 and was owned by Lincoln College, Oxford by the 17th and 18th centuries.
