Uffington Castle is an Iron Age hillfort on the summit of White Horse Hill.  The castle is a Scheduled Ancient Monument and covers approximately 32,000 square meters.  There used to be two entrances to the castle, however one was blocked a few centuries after it was built.  According to archaeologists, the castle was most likely built in the 7th or 8th century and evidence of pottery, loom weights and animal bones have been discovered during excavations.
