Longdon upon Tern is a village in east central Shropshire.  The village is where the first large scale cast iron navigable aqueduct was located.  It was designed and built by Thomas Telford and is now preserved as a scheduled ancient monument.  The aqueduct is 57 meters long and opened in 1797.

The Church of St. Bartholomew is a small 18th century church made from Georgian stone and red brick.  The church was renovated and expanded in the 19th century.  Next to the church is the Longdon upon Tern village hall.  The village hall was once a schoolhouse that was given to the area by the Duke of Sutherland back in 1849.  The school closed in 1970, because there were not enough students in the area. 

The Shropshire Hills area was designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty in 1958.  Stokesay Castle is a well preserved fortified manor house and was built in the late 13th century by Laurence of Ludlow.  The Offa’s Dyke area is a 65 foot wide and 8 foot high linear land structure that is believed to be made by workers under the order of the 8th century King Offa of Mercia.  Offa’s Dyke is a protected scheduled monument. 

Clun Forest is located in the southwestern part of Shropshire.  The forest includes open pastures, moorland and woodlands.  The Offa Dyke runs through this area and people can enjoy the scenery as they walk the Offa’s Dyke Path.  Wyre Forest is partly in Shropshire and is a partially unmanaged forest that measures over 26 square kilometers.  The forest is known for its abundance of different wildlife species.  This is one of the areas that the Oecophora bractella moth can be found in all of England.
