Office Culture Vs Horticulture!

It's always worth keeping an eye on what the RHS are doing, if your interests extend to flowers. From managing the Chelsea Flower Show, to their truly admirable Campaign for School Gardening, the Royal Horticultural Society frequently provide events which because keynote events in the floral year.

So when we at CF Towers heard that they were launching a new campaign, our flowery little ears pricked up.

The new move is called 'Office Culture Vs Horticulture', and it's designed to show young people that working in horticulture is a valid - and rewarding - career option. According to the RHS, "80% of florists and gardeners feel recognised and appreciated, 89% feel their work is worthwhile and useful and 87% are happy in their careers." - and yet, many people don't realise when choosing a career that horticulture is even an option.

So the Society set out to highlight te validity of horticulture as a career, with a social media event last Monday, where florists, gardeners and horiculturalists shared their experiences of working in the field.

Said Ian Le Cros of the RHS: “Gardening is undoubtedly the best career there is. Perks include a vast scope for creativity, endless opportunities and working outside on fine summer days or crisp winter days is wonderful. You work with a subject that is massively broad and could learn a new plant and skill every day.

“Hopefully through having a bit of fun with this campaign we’ll get the attention of at least some of the 80% of 25 year olds who are not interested in a career in horticulture and inspire them to think differently.”
